Get to Know Danielle Stiles-Polk, President of HCCF

Last month, Hamilton County Community Foundation announced the appointment of Danielle Stiles-Polk as President.

Danielle, who previously served as HCCF’s Vice President of External Strategy & Development, has been serving as Interim President and played a critical role in guiding us through our new strategic plan and rebrand launch in January.

Q&A:

As a leader taking charge during a unique time in HCCF’s history, Danielle shared her vision for the future and what this position means to her.

Q: Given the evolving nature of Hamilton County, what key projects or initiatives are you most eager to pursue within your first 180 days as President?

A: Over the past year, while serving as Vice President of External Strategy & Development and then as Interim President, I had the opportunity to really listen to our community- both through the Hamilton County Community Needs Assessment and as we developed our new strategic plan. What I’ve seen is that while Hamilton County is thriving in many ways, there’s also a lot of need that goes unnoticed. One of the biggest challenges is that a lot of dollars leave the county simply because people don’t realize how much need exists right here. In my first 180 days as President, I want to focus on building stronger relationships in the community- so HCCF can be a better advocate for local needs and connect more people and resources to solutions that make a real impact. The more we engage, the more we can ensure that generosity stays local and supports the people who need it most.

Q: In your view, what are the most significant opportunities for Hamilton County over the next four years?

A: Hamilton county has a major opportunity to create a stronger economy by focusing on four key areas: housing, childcare, workforce and education, and social services. Right now, nearly 9,500 households are spending more than half their income just to keep a roof over their heads, only 29% of children have access to high-quality childcare, and we have about 1,000 young people who are in school or working. These challenges make it harder for families to thrive and for businesses to find the workers they need. By working together to expand housing options, make childcare more accessible, and create more pathways into good jobs, we can make sure Hamilton County continues to grow in a way that benefits everyone.

Q: As a former Vice President, what does it mean to you to now be leading the Hamilton County Community Foundation?

A: Stepping into the role of President of the Hamilton County Community Foundation is an incredible honor, and it’s one that feels both exciting and deeply meaningful. Over the past year, as Vice President of External Strategy & Development and later as Interim President, I’ve had the privilege of leading critical efforts like our county-wide needs assessment and the launch of our new strategic plan. That experience gave me a front-row seat to both the successes and challenges our community is facing- and the immense potential we have to make a difference.

I’m especially grateful for the incredible team at HCCF, whose dedication and passion drive our work forward every day. Alongside our talented staff and engaged board, I’m excited to continue building strong relationships with our community leaders, donors, fundholders, nonprofit partners, and residents to ensure that HCCF is not just a funder, but a true leader and convener in Hamilton County. We are at a pivotal moment where we can drive real, lasting impact- whether through our grant-making, strengthening the nonprofit sector, or bringing people together to solve complex challenges. I’m eager to carry forward the momentum we’ve built and work together to create meaningful change. Hamilton County is growing and evolving, and I’m committed to ensuring that every resident has the opportunity to thrive.
