Grants that Power Community Change

Hamilton County Community Foundation invests in nonprofits and initiatives addressing Hamilton County’s most pressing challenges, including childcare, housing, social services, and workforce and education.

With support from Lilly Endowment Inc. through the GIFT IX initiative, HCCF is currently able to expand its grantmaking to include additional ways of supporting nonprofit organizations. Competitive Grants continue to provide operating support in priority areas, while Flexible Grants and Strategic Grants offer additional opportunities to support targeted needs and broader efforts.

We partner with organizations of all sizes to strengthen their work, respond to changing community needs, and drive lasting change across Hamilton County.

We encourage you to reach out to HCCF’s community leadership officers before you apply. You can reach them at HCCFGrants@hamiltoncountycf.org.

It depends. When an application is declined, our staff will either make recommendations on ways to improve your request or advise on how your organization’s programming can be improved or adjusted to align better with funding priorities. Our staff may also connect you with community resources or networks. We may also communicate if there is no alignment at this time.

No. Organizations cannot be awarded funding from all three grant pathways. Flexible Funding may complement either a Competitive Grant or a Strategic Grant, but organizations will not receive both Competitive and Strategic funding at the same time. This approach ensures resources are distributed thoughtfully and aligned with the scale and purpose of each request.

Our staff may share applications with our donor-advised funds based on those funds’ priorities. Organizations cannot apply directly to these funds for support. We cannot guarantee that every application will be presented to donor-advised fundholders or their leadership.

Applicants must review and update ALL materials each time when applying for funding. Failure to update may result in your application being denied due to incomplete information.

While our staff cannot provide extensive help in shaping your program or developing the ability of your organization to meet the expectations of our funds or other funders, we can often refer you to resources in our community that offer development opportunities for your organization, staff, and programs.
